Slow Art

The Slow Art movement highlights the benefits of slowing down the way we engage with art. It encourages us to give exhibiting artists time to speak through their artwork – to consider the bigger picture.

Slow Art Day : hosted at Greyfriars Municpal Art Gallery, GreyfriarsSt. Waterford - 16th April 2011

Run by volunteer hosts, Slow Art Day encourages people to slow down and see art in a new way - visit a local museum, view 5 to 10 pre-selected works of art, meet for lunch, and share the experience. Participants view two recent works by Ciaran Lynch anda bronze by John Behan, and Sarah Purser’s A Woman. more info

Rainforest Aviary

ignite 4 at The Science Gallery, Trinity College Dublin - April 2010

Twenty photos from Australia Zoo, 2006, were chosen to accompany the ambient electromic sound piece Rain Forest Aviary by miXile based on field recordings made at the zoo. Each image was shown for 15 seconds in 5 minutes as part of ignite 4 at the Science Gallery, Trinity College, Dublin.

Since the late 1980's, (when I worked regularly with installations, video and performance media,) I have collaborated with performance artist Michael Shanahan, aka sound artist miXile. In time our various projects will be catalogued for posterity!
