Chris Watson's sound interpretation of John Constable's 'The Cornfield', National Gallery, London - October 2009

Had the pleasure of revisiting John Constable's 'The Cornfield', in October 2009 in conjunction with Chris Watson's sound interpretation of the work at the National Gallery, London. Watson's difficulty in sourcing clean recordings of birdsong, without the hum of modern life, brought home just how much we have lost.

Watson's layered recreation of the spatial depth in the artwork, through sound, bridged the 80 year gap and created an immediacy and intimacy between audience and artist that was palpable.

Unfamiliar Territory” , Exhibition at Foley's on the Mall in Lismore, Co. Waterford, based on travel sketchbooks, this solo exhibition coincided with the Immrama Travel Writer's Festival and continues until the end of June.

The abstract pieces, influenced by the artwork of desert artists in Western Australia, are a visual journal recounting the 5000km journey across the desert and outback. Expressionism and the Art of Website DesignFacilitated a Network workshop on "Expressionism and the Art of Website Design" - an opportunity for business people to look at new ways to identify and express visually what they and their business, or career, is really all about. Exploring positive elements associated business life and the way personality and energy is expressed in business. At the same time offering an insight into the way colour and layout can influence the way you feel and think when surfing the net. "In the current environment it is vital that we find a way to allow our personalities and energy be expressed positively during the part of our life we call the working day. It is not always easy to remember why we put so much energy into our working life."
